Moving Tips
Planning your move
Contact us for a quotation about a month before your expected
move date so we can plan your move with you. Remember to discuss
access and parking arrangements for your current and new properties.
Decide what you want to take. Some items like fine art, antiques,
plants or wine collections may need specialist attention and
you should discuss this at the time of your survey.
Your mover is not allowed to tamper with mains services so
make arrangements with your gas/electricity companies well
in advance. This also includes light fittings.
Run your freezer down. Whilst every care is taken, your mover
is not responsible for any deterioration of the contents.

Try to arrange to have young children and pets looked after
by a friend or neighbour while the move is taking place. Older
children will enjoy the excitement of moving and should be
included in the process as much as possible.
Your mover will take down curtains and lift carpets if these
services have been agreed. They will not, however, fit them
again in your new home.
Give your mover a map or clear directions to your new home.
Take out insurance on your move.
if you decide to use Luxfords, we will be pleased to provide
a comprehensive moving checklist and further information on
how best to plan for your move.
